SoundDrout created his YouTube channel on August 5, 2014, originally titled “Sound Drout” with a space. However, his first public video was uploaded on February 7, 2015, which was titled "Must watch! AMAZING TF2 item DUPLICATION!". In the video he references the fact that he has uploaded other videos in the past, which are now private. He continued to upload Roblox gameplay of various games, Pokémon card openings, and random meme videos such as "birb gets choked". He also ventured into other games like Clash Royale, Terraria, and Fortnite. His first Discord video was uploaded on December 24, 2017, titled "HILARIOUS SINGING ON DISCORD (Sony Vegas 14 Pro Test)".
The Sound's World Discord server was established on June 1, 2018. Around this period, SoundDrout celebrated reaching 420 subscribers, posting a video to mark the milestone on July 22. He continued to focus on Roblox content and achieved 2,500 subscribers by December 2, 2018. His channel remained relatively unknown and unsuccessful until the video titled "HACKING MY OWN DISCORD SERVER! (Funny Trolling)" was released on December 24, 2018. This video went viral, accumulating 3 million views, making it his third most-viewed video.
SoundDrout's channel and Discord server continued to expand, reaching 20,000 subscribers by late February. To celebrate this milestone, he uploaded a video titled "FACE REVEAL FOR 20K SUBSCRIBERS!!!! 😱" which turned out to be a fake face reveal.
He made a promise to reveal his toes once he reached 100,000 subscribers. Around this time, due to the increasing activity in Sound's World, the first generation of Moderator Applications was released. SoundDrout continued to upload Roblox content, but his Discord-related videos started gaining significantly more views. His uploads focused largely on Discord trolling and Simon Says videos.
By August, his channel had grown further, reaching 40,000 subscribers.
At this stage, SoundDrout exclusively uploaded Discord-related videos. Even his least successful videos garnered hundreds of thousands of views, with some surpassing millions. He has also made multiple collaboration videos with other YouTubers such as Flowmotion and CustomName.
SoundDrout reached 100,000 subscribers in May, marking the occasion with his "100k Subscriber Special", which included the promised feet reveal. In July, he uploaded his most viewed video to date, "How fast can Discord Moderators type?" During this period, significant changes occurred within his server, including the introduction of the Sound's World Minecraft Server, the creation of the r/soundsworld subreddit, the initiation of XP Friday and Staff Day events, as well as the release of actual merchandise. Additionally, SoundDrout achieved Discord Partner status on September 14, 2020, which coincided with his birthday.
SoundDrout's activity on YouTube declined significantly in 2021, with only eleven videos uploaded throughout the year. Despite his reduced presence on YouTube, his Discord server continued to thrive and receive updates. On July 16, he released the first and only Developer Applications.
SoundDrout became inactive on YouTube and uploaded only eleven videos in 2021. Despite this, his Discord server continued to grow and be updated. He released the first and only Developer Applications on July 16. In 2022, he released only seven videos (although one was a YouTube short). This activity was evident when he released another trolling video, "Trolling My Discord Server by DEMOTING Mods (and more!)" that didn't break 200k views.
In early 2023, Sound's World lost its Discord Partner status due to not meeting the 20% new member retention requirement for several consecutive weeks. SoundDrout announced this development, noting that the server hovered around 19.5%, narrowly missing the target.
Throughout most of 2023, SoundDrout was inactive on both YouTube and Discord. However, he attempted to revive his channel in December 2023 by uploading seven videos, compared to just four for the rest of the year combined. Despite his efforts, his videos struggled to gain traction, with his most viewed video in 2023 being "The Most Active Servers To Join in Discord" with only 160k views.
Since his attempted channel revival, SoundDrout has resumed uploading videos very infrequently, releasing only six videos in 2024. They were all in the first half of the year, and none of them exceeded just 50k views. On May 31, 2024, SoundDrout made a significant update by changing his profile picture for the first time in five years to a squiggly "S" shape. He posted an announcement explaining that this change was necessary as he no longer plays Roblox or creates Roblox videos. He updated both his Discord profile picture and YouTube profile picture and banner accordingly. However, the logo for the Sound's World server itself remained unchanged.
In 2025, he released only two videos, neither of which exceeded 30k views.
Meanwhile, his Discord server has experienced a significant decline in activity, falling below 300,000 members on May 16, 2024. The server's membership has been decreasing at a rate of up to 40,000 members per year, dropping from 396,000 to 298,000 over a span of 1230 days. The longest gap between two generations of moderators was between September 24, 2023, and June 12, 2025, a gap of 1 year, 8 months, and 19 days, further indicating the servers inactivity.
SoundDrout made a significant change in his channel topic, by beginning to only upload Factory game related videos starting in 2026, completely ditching Discord content. This transition has actually proved to be somewhat successful, as he has released seven factory videos, three of which exceeded 400k views, which has not happened since July 2021, a five year gap. The decline in activity and member count in Sound's World has somewhat slowed down, and the future of his channel and the server does not seem grim anymore.
